The only set of war photos taken from the opening until the day of victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign by photographer - soldier Trieu Dai is on display at the Women's Museum in Hanoi. Trieu Dai was presented the honorable State Prize in 2001 for the photos.

Among thousands of photos taken of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign by photographer Trieu Dai, the Organizing Committee and his family selected 70 photos, corresponding to the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, to introduce to the public this time.

Photographer Trieu Dai, born in 1920, died in 1992, in Trieu Khuc village, Tan Trieu commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi. He studied photography in 1941 at Central Photo in Hanoi. At the end of 1947, he was mobilized into the army and was a photojournalist at the 1950 Border Campaign. He took many photos of historical value about the Border Campaign, photos of President Ho Chi Minh with soldiers, battles of Dong Khe and That Khe, and others.

He was awarded the Second-class Victory Medal for his photography work at the border front. After the Border Victory in 1950, Trieu Dai continued to participate in other major campaigns such as the Hoa Binh Campaign in 1951, the Northwest Campaign in 1952... He was then sent by the Ministry of National Defense and Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap to the "Tran Dinh campaign", the codename for the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, as a war photographer.

The most outstanding work at the exhibition is a 6m x 1m photo depicting the entire scene of the French stronghold of Dien Bien Phu being destroyed by Vietnamese troops.

On December 6, 1953, the Politburo held a meeting under the chair of President Ho Chi Minh to approve the strategic plan for the Winter-Spring of 1953-1954 and decided to launch the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
